Harder Kulm – Interlaken - A Viewing Pulpit Between Thuner- und Brienzersee

img

Already in Interlaken you get a magnificent view of the famous mountain trio of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. But the high Alpine, glaciated world of four-thousand-meter peaks can be surveyed and admired even better atop the 1322-meter Mount Harder. The Funicular since 1908 seems as if nature had intended to build this kind of viewing pulpit just for the benefit of tourists. During the 8-minute ride up Mount Harder from Interlaken, the train rolls on steep tracks through a forest belt. A gradient of 64 per cent has to be overcome. Because of the complex geological conditions, half of the stretch is built on bridges. From the valley station you will get in a few minutes to Harder-Kulm, a restaurant with turrets and a red tiled roof, whose architecture is protected as a Swiss heritage site. From the panoramic terrace you can catch a broad view of the famous lakes of Interlaken, Thun and Brienz as well as the Bernese Mountains rising behind them.

From mountain train to mountain train, from lake to lake - the Five-Lakes-Hike on Mount Pizol is a classic and is considered one of Switzerland's most beautiful high alpine tours. Pizol is the originally Romansh name meaning hight peak. It presides over the entrance to Graubünden's Rhine Valley. A modern aerial cable car that whisks visitors up to the 2227-meter summit. It covers an altitude difference of 1720 meters between Wangs and the Pizol Hut. Here is the starting point for the varied lake hike. Each lake has a different color: the small Lake Wangen is a deep blue-green, the Wildsee gets its water from the Pizol Glacier and is therefore a milky grey-white, Lake Schlotten is milky blue, Lake Baschalva with Grey waters and the Schwarzsee is nearly black.
